Tips for Safe Essential Travel

We understand that there are essential reasons to travel now and we’re here to Safely support you. Whether it’s for a medical appointment or going to help a loved one, we want to be your trusted transportation option. We’re committed to help ease any travel anxiety you may have and recognize the added stressors of travel during COVID-19. We wanted to share some helpful tips for safe travel, to set you up for a comfortable journey!

Plan in advance

If you research your trip details and plan your itinerary well in advance, you will have less anxiety when travel day comes. Mapping out your trip, knowing your stops, and even considering possible scenarios to prepare for will help travel anxiety during COVID. This includes packing a phone charger in case you need to recharge your device or bringing a toque and mittens in case your destination is colder than your departing location. It’s important to always think ahead to avoid potential future stressors.

Bring COVID safety items

There have been a lot of changes the past year and that includes bringing some essential items with you to help protect you against COVID-19. While these items are helpful for your health and safety, some of them may also be required by your transportation provider:

·       Hand sanitizer

·       Approved face mask

·       Latex gloves

·       Sanitizing wipes

·       Vitamins to boost your immune system

At Ebus, we vigorously clean our coaches after each trip but bringing these items will give you even more confidence while travelling (and face masks are required). We have hand sanitizer, reusable face masks and gloves available for purchase at our ticket offices – just ask our friendly staff!

Know the protocols

This includes protocols for the province you’re travelling in and the company you’re travelling with. Each will have their own specific protocols in place, so it’s important to be aware of those before travelling. At Ebus, we appreciate you putting your trust in our Safely Clean program, assuring that our guidelines are for your health and safety.

Ask questions

If you’re unsure of anything or have questions about travelling right now, don’t hesitate to get confirmation. You can always reach out to us by contacting our call centre, sending an email, or messaging us on Facebook. Our drivers would be happy to address your concerns and do their best to ease your worry. Before choosing your travel provider, make sure you consider the following points:

·       Do they have safety protocols in place?

·       Are they social distancing in offices and while boarding?

·       Do they have enhanced cleaning and sanitization measures?

Listen to music or read a book

Sometimes a great way to reduce anxiety is to escape and give yourself a mental break. Listening to music has proven to reduce stress, specifically ‘slow and meditative’ music. It also brings a sense of community, which is even more important during this pandemic, as we’re secluded more than usual. Reading is another way to relieve stress, allowing you to escape into a different world or distract you from daily life.

Be kind and patient

One of the most important things to remember is that we’re all dealing with a new way of life, so be kind and patient towards fellow passengers, staff, and yourself. We must work together to learn new protocols and keep our communities safe. Showing kindness, understanding, and respect will make the travel experience more enjoyable for everyone involved.

We hope you find these tips helpful and remember you can always reach out to our team if you have any questions about travelling during COVID-19. From all of us at Ebus, stay safe and healthy!
